When an angel pops in to take over the State of the Union Address, business as usual in Washington comes to a screeching halt. The standard excuses no longer fly, the typical coverup dissolves, and the corruption of the two parties is laid bare. His shocking message of honesty, rationality, and responsibility shatters the routine and paves the way for authentic citizens to begin the work of making things right. For the first time-in a very long time-there comes a new reason to hope. That is, unless they can find a way to shut Benjamin True down... (From the back cover.)This novel takes a fresh look at the big picture of politics and religion in America. It's not your typical laundry list of partisan talking points, but an examination of what kind of people we are, and how Americans really ought to step it up as overseers of our own federal government. It also hits a grand slam for federal term limits, which over 70% of Americans (from both parties) want.

Autorenporträt
Jack Pelham is a philosopher and reformer, and is the founder of the Society for Reality-Based Thinking, which publishes daily memes through its Facebook page. He is a life-long learner and a devout generalist, making it a point to avoid the pitfalls common to specialists, who don't do so well seeing the "big picture". Jack is a former entrepreneur with significant experience in program management, web development, product development, and marketing. He has more recently decided to forgo further entrepreneurial efforts and to focus his available hours on promoting philosophical reforms. This includes the philosophy of politics and religion, and is most generally founded in the subject of thinking itself. His seminal book, Reality-Based Thinking: How everyone--including you--can think better, is currently being completed, and should be available for purchase in early 2018. In 2010, he and his wife, Kay, established the Rule of Law Restoration, which project was aimed at supporting political candidates who would pledge to abide by the Constitution as the Supreme Law of the Land, and to keep themselves from exceeding their lawful powers while in office. That project yielded significant results---in two ways. The first was that it demonstrated that there are indeed a good number of candidates who are friends of the Rule of Law. The sad backside to that coin, however, is that the American public is far from committing itself to a new course of action when it comes to deciding for whom it will vote. A relatively large number of candidates signed the pledge, but few voters would pledge not to support candidates who would not. This got Jack started at trying to figure out why not. What is it about the way people think that keeps them from correcting themselves even when they know, or should know, that they are wrong? What keeps them hanging on to an obviously-dysfunctional system, rather than working to fix it? Those questions, and their answers, are the focus of his work.
