The Face of Deception is the story of Sarah and her journey into forced adulthood when she is thrown into a world which most adults have never experienced. With her are her two best friends and her boyfriend, and although it may seem that she is not alone, she is. Being the only child of an East Indian woman and an Irish man has never been easy for Sarah - her mother is controlling and will not allow her to indulge in adolescent fun while her father believes that she should be enjoying herself. All of her life her mother has always said to her, "If anything bad happens to the people around you, it's probably your fault," and Sarah has taken this to heart. The novel starts out with typical adolescent situations, but as it progresses, real-life issues arise fast. From out of nowhere her friend's cousin, a deeply disturbed and malicious individual turns up and befriends the group. The four friends face one problem after another and eventually, all hell breaks loose. They are all involved in an intricate web of lies, deceit, and betrayal. The reader must make the ultimate decision: who really is the Face of Deception?
