"You'll be astonished to hear what I'm doing now - something that has always been a particular dream of mine." What happens when the life you thought you should want doesn't turn out as planned? "You'll be astonished to hear what I'm doing now - something that has always been a particular dream of mine." What happens when the life you thought you should want doesn't turn out as planned? What do you do when you'd rather be somewhere, somewhen, and someone else? When ordinary grown-up, Ailene Cuthbertson, realises she's living in someone else's story, she figures she'd better start writing her own. The Faring Light Letters is that story - a fantasy-ish, memoir-ish tale of re-enchantment and finding the way. Whimsical, poetic, and heartfelt, the letters chronicle the decade after being let go from her job and her marriage. And amidst finding herself, picking up new dreams, magical encounters in the wild New Zealand mountains, becoming a bohemian artist, playing with mythological aquatic creatures, and learning about faring lights, there may also come a time for some dreams to be left behind. May contain traces of dragons.
Autorenporträt
Ailene Cuthbertson is an artist, creative writer, creativity coach, and advocate for connecting with your magic and living your own Tale Of Me: A Collection of Good Bits. As a teenager, she spent a lot of time in libraries escaping into all the books. This meant she could fill her high-school English teachers' lives with joy. She followed instructions to 'write what you know' precisely - with stories of swashbuckling pirates, mysterious wanderers, and one memorable ambassador doing a really bad job on a far-flung star. It goes without saying that every heroine bore a suspicious resemblance to her. She also produced fantastic research projects - especially that one year she decided the whole thing was boring and invented an archaeological dig site. The ghosts, she discovered later on. Fast forward a few years and she figured she'd better grow up and get on with being a mundane, non-magical human. That didn't go terribly well. So, she's not doing that anymore. Now, when not creating stories full of magic and wonder, you'll find her following faring lights, crossing the wall, storming the castle, or working as a software developer because she also loves being a nerd.
