In late 1986/1987, they started the Donkey Dan Show on Prescott Valley's KLKY. The show ran for more than four years, until the radio station was sold. Though they were offered to stay, Vietnam Veteran Donna's disabilities got worse, making them decide to end the show and start on a new manuscript using the radio stories. On September 4, 2006, Donna passed on to be with her maker.

Autorenporträt
Inspired by a radio show of the same name by the same author, The Farmer Family Album weds fiction and nonfiction brings you to the world of Donkey Dan. Twenty stories in this collection were actually aired during the Donkey Dan Show's four-year run.The book blends science, fantasy, family, humor, and a bit of religion through a mixed family of cartoon animals. Characters in the book were inspired by real-life family members, friends, and pets, and the moments were based on actual events in the Thompsons' family life. Even the house the story was set in was based on an actual house that had oak floors, a fireplace, and a grandfather clock that hid little Tremor's house. And Tremor, one of the beloved characters in the book, appearing in most of the stories, had lived in the Thompsons' home in Prescott Valley, Arizona.
