Elizabeth A. Clark is the John Carlisle Kilgo Professor Emerita of Religion at Duke University. She is author of History, Theory, Text: Historians and the Linguistic Turn, Reading Renunciation: Asceticism and Scripture in Early Christianity, and The Origenist Controversy: The Cultural Construction of an Early Christian Debate.
