Ulf Engel is a professor at the Institute of African Studies, University of Leipzig, Germany. He is also visiting professor at Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia, and a professor extraordinary at Stellenbosch University, South Africa. Frank Mattheis is a researcher at the Institut d'études européennes (IEE), Université libre de Bruxelles, Belgium, and an associate researcher at the Centre for the Study of Governance Innovation, University of Pretoria, South Africa.
