HER MATERNAL GRAND PARENTS OWNED AN ESTATE WHICH HOUSED A VARIETY OF ANIMALS; FROM GOATS, DUCKS, PIGEON, COWS, CHICKEN, ECT AND FRUIT TREES FROM APPLE AND MANGO TO GRAPE VINES, AND WATER WELLS WHERE THEY WILL FULL WATER FOR THE ANIMALS. YES THERE WERE OTHER ANIMALS LURKING AROUND. THE SQUIRREL, AGOUTI, LAPPE, AND MANIGOU [OPOSSUM]; WILD ANIMALS TO NAME A FEW, ALL NATIVE TO TRINIDAD. IT IS HER LOVE FOR THE ANIMALS AND OBSERVING HOW THEY GOT ALONG THAT CAUSED HER TO WRITE 'THE FIRST EASTER'
