This book aims to analyse the formation of the first class of normalistas at the "Juvenal Miller" Normal School, as well as the work of these teachers from the 1950s onwards. To this end, six interviews were conducted, based on the theoretical-methodological framework of oral history and memory. The interviewees included five normalistas and one teacher from the first class of the public Normal Course in Rio Grande/RS. In addition, it presents the background to the creation of the Normal Course, as well as a brief history of the other protagonists in this story, i.e. the management and other teachers and students. It is worth highlighting the memories of these women who filled the teaching staff in the city of Rio Grande from the 1950s onwards and who, as we have seen, were awaiting the creation of the public Normal Course in the city in order to pursue the profession sought after by women in the golden years.
