He had been shipwrecked and had rounded the Horn eleven times. In spite of his love of the sea, he was lured from it more than once to go prospecting for gold.Mr. Mason is the author of The Flying Bosun, The Cook and the Captain Bold, Salt Horse, Swansea Dan, The Wee Men of Ballywooden, From the Horn of the Moon, The Fossil Fountain, The Roving Lobster, and Wide Seas and Many Lands.
