Twice in his life, Robert McElroy, Ph.D. found himself faced with a situation where he had to lose 70 or more pounds. Using his logically-trained mind, he systematically achieved his goal. However, unlike 80% of people who lose a significant amount of weight and regain about two-thirds of what they originally lost 12 months later, he kept the weight off for many years. His second episode of weight gain brought new cultural challenges not faced before but using his analytical skills, he "got busy" learning all he could on the topic and created another weight loss winning strategy that has worked for others as well. That's when he felt it imperative to write his book and companion workbook in an effort to help others. Dr. McElroy's strong problem-solving skills were developed from his extensive business and leadership experience in the engineering, technical and consulting fields, plus his experience being on the stand for about 1000 depositions and 100 trials in federal and state courts for criminal and civil trials. He had to consistently provide clearly explained, understandable, and technically precise analysis and opinions plus be straight to the point. When you read the court scenes about weight loss fictitious cases in his workbook, you'll see some of that "straight to the point" way of thinking. Using this straightforward approach to his weight, he changed his own deep beliefs and attitudes that had been untouched for years. This is one of the keys to his current weight loss approach where he wants you to become like a forensic analyst and solve your weight issue for good. Only then will you be able to continue on your highway of life without looking back. Many people know Dr. McElroy as an internationally acknowledged vehicle technical expert, accident reconstructionist, and Event Data Recorder (EDR) expert. Since 1986, he has specialized in the scientific use of forensic evidence for vehicle product liability and failure analysis and reconstructs transportation and industrial accidents. In his career, Dr. McElroy has been and still is a successful entrepreneur, founding companies in technology, transportation, energy, manufacturing, and consulting. He is recognized for leadership, logical thinking, crisp decision making, and constructive contribution. He collaborated on highway safety initiatives in Canada, Mexico, Ireland, France, Germany, Serbia, and the United States. He has also worked closely with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), and Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) to develop standards for Vehicle EDR. Dr. McElroy obtained an exclusive North American contract to decode Bosch/Siemens/Mannesmann VDO EDR devices and provided forensic engineering services associated with legal support in Canada, Mexico and the United States.
