The bed was sold to her and she requested that Maureen accompany her dad on the journey. Emily first met Maureen when she walked into the furniture store and heard the young girl crying. Susan Hudson Chellis was raised in the Lowcountry of South Carolina. She attended Bishop England High School and then graduated from the MUSC School of Allied Health. After working for a Charleston surgeon, she received a scholarship and attended The College of Charleston. She married her husband, Stephen, and moved to Summerville, SC. Susan's previous novel, The Kitchen Table, took place in Charleston, SC, or the Holy City as referred to by the locals. Her latest book, The Four Poster Bed, takes place in Ireland and England. While travelling with her grandparents, when she was eighteen, she fell in love with Ireland. She loved listening to her grandmother's tales about her country of birth and hopes that her readers will do the same.
