He serves as dean of the faculty of Islamic Studies and president of the Board of Directors at the Islamic University of Minnesota, senior member of the Permanent Fatwa Committee of the Assembly of Muslim Jurists of America (AMJA), Im¿m and president of the board of trustees of Dar-al-Farooq Islamic Center, member of faculty of the Graduate Theological Foundation, and former chairman of the North American Imams Federation (NAIF). Dr. Abu Zayd completed his ¿¿limiyyah degree (Advanced License in Islamic Scholarship) under the tutelage of Dr. Möammad Akram Nadw¿, holds a Bachelor's Degree in Islamic Studies from the School of Islamic and Arabic Studies, a Masters from the Islamic University of Minnesota under the guidance of Shaykh Waleed Edrees, and a Diploma in Classical Islamic Texts from Cambridge Islamic College.
