Bruce Brown's semi-fictional memoir offers life and investment advice through a humorous lens. John, whose *nom de guerre* is JM on the poker battlefield, is a finalist in a big buy-in poker tournament that he desperately needs to win. After he pushes all in and awaits his opponent's decision, he wonders how he reached this point - where his happiness and financial future will be determined by another. Pondering "how did I get here?" JM ruefully reflects on his life. While job hunting after college, he discovers the exciting, legal card clubs in CA. Along his wayward, zig zag journey, he learns strategy and life lessons from some older, grizzled players. He also meets a pantheon of poker players who are Runyonesque, funny, and quirky, if not riveting.Hinweis: Dieser Artikel kann nur an eine deutsche Lieferadresse ausgeliefert werden.
Bruce "Mr. Mellow" Brown proudly served our country for four years as a Navy Corpsman during the Vietnam era. He got his BA in Economics and earned a fellowship to UCS's MBA program. For a while, poker was his sole source of income, and he even worked a few months as a card room shill-like prop or "host." Throughout his life he played poker competitively and spent 41 years playing poker profitably. He also held jobs as a human test subject, strawberry farm roadside salesman, park maintenance worker, switchboard operator, SBA loan applicant assistant, health center consultant, and chief medical administrator of three medical centers. Is this checkered enough? Happily divorced, his marriage produced two fine young men who, by job diaspora, are beyond their childhood home in Manhattan Beach, CA.
