Julián, a young Colombian writer, travels to France to advance his career. After securing a position as an employee in the mansion of a wealthy French family, he begins to uncover the secrets that link the family's patriarch to the German SS during World War II. Despite his initial standing, Julián gradually becomes more integrated into the aristocratic Lorraine von Habsburg family, while secretly collaborating with a mysterious group of agents intent on exposing the clan's secrets. After a childhood and adolescence marked by the loss of his mother and the overwhelming presence of his father, Julián yearns for his independence as an artist. Meanwhile, the plot he has fallen into tempts him toward two parallel abysses: the heroism of exposing a war criminal, or the luxury and splendor of European aristocracy. Torn between the two, Julián narrates his personal tragedy in search of guidance as he faces his own end.
