For this, huge amount of population are staying outside of direct production process and their contribution is not valued in the GDP. It accounts the wastage of human resource. The recognition of homemaker's contribution should be important and consider them as active participants of national economy to ensure women's empowerment. Revaluing household work time can make homemakers contribution visible in national economy as well as GDP.

The author is a post-graduate student of Department of Women and Gender Studies, University of Dhaka. Awarded ¿Mamuna Khatun Memorial Scholarship¿, for achieving academic excellence (highest CGPA) in B.S.S honors program in 2009.
