Flannery O'Connor (1925-1964) fue una destacada escritora estadounidense conocida por sus distintivas contribuciones a la literatura gótica sureña. Nacida en Savannah, Georgia, pasó gran parte de su vida en Milledgeville, Georgia, donde creció en la granja de su familia, Andalucía. La obra de O'Connor está marcada por su exploración de la moralidad, la religión y lo grotesco, a menudo con el sur rural como telón de fondo.O'Connor se licenció en el Georgia State College for Women en 1945 y más tarde obtuvo un máster en el Iowa Writers' Workshop, donde perfeccionó su oficio y desarrolló su voz única.
