Anita is a typical kid who loves sweets and is not a fan of brushing her teeth! Anita is excited for her school photo; she can't wait to smile with her classmates for the camera. When Anita checks her smile in the mirror before school on photo day, she can't believe her eyes and the disaster that has befallen her. What will happen if she can't share her smile? Will Anita find a solution to this problem? What can we learn from her along the way? "The Girl Who Found Her Smile" is an inspirational story to engage young people on the subject of oral hygiene and life-long good habits that will keep their teeth clean and their smiles big and healthy. Kids can identify with Anita and her wish to have a shining smile for the school photo. The story ends with an educational page about how to keep your mouth healthy, including information about cavities, how to avoid getting one, and steps to correctly brush your teeth. At the back of the book, there are twelve pages for kids to write their monthly "Healthy Smile Pledge" to set their own goals, practice new habits, and set themselves up for success and a life-long healthy smile.

Adekemi Adeniyan is a dentist and the founder and executive director of the Dentalcare Foundation, based in Ado Ekiti, Nigeria. She is passionate about improving the oral healthcare system and exploring the intersection of community and culture in relation to oral health. Her vision is to ensure that everyone has equal access to oral healthcare regardless of age, status, or gender. The Dentalcare Foundation is a nonprofit founded in 2018 with the mission of providing free oral healthcare and oral hygiene education to the underserved and fostering oral health equity in Nigeria. The majority of adults and children living in rural areas have no access to oral health care or information about oral hygiene. The Dentalcare Foundation works with a network of motivated dentists, students, and volunteers to bring high-quality oral health care as well as accessible oral health education to underserved rural populations using mobile dentistry. We believe that oral health makes a significant difference in the lives of so many people; relieving pain resulting from poor oral health and improving people's well-being. Helping others find their healthy smiles brings us joy. www.dentcarefoundation.org
