"The Glades is a spellbinding potboiler that keeps readers holding their breath up to the very end." -Megan Davidson, author of The Thundering In an effort to leave her impressive detective career and dark encounters behind her, Maddy Reynolds trades New York City for the Adirondack Mountains. But this attempt is in vain, for the village where she builds her new home is across from The Glades, a sprawling retreat that uses its shiny, blissful never to disguise the brutal sex trafficking operation beneath. The Glades' founder, Avery Jordan, is in debt to the local mob, and he desperately counts on his next salve slave auction to pay it off. He and his mistress, Naomi White, are dismayed to realize a renowned detective has moved nearby. Paranoid, Avery commands his henchmen to find out why Maddy is there. Meanwhile, Maddy discovers the underlying evil through Hector, a boy of fifteen, whose sister was sexually exploited by Avery. This triggers all the elements of an intense crime thriller-kidnapping, revenge, gun shot wounds, stabbing, severe burns-and the inescapable vortex of humanity's darkness.
