Across the planet, paranoia flourishes while a melancholic people search for the light of hope within the darkness of their tortured lives. One such alienated soul is Detective Klaus Jürgen Müeller, a misanthropic anti-hero barely surviving in a bioengineered district of war and desolation. Tormented by his son's death at the time of the cataclysm, and his wife's subsequent descent into madness, he self-medicates with high-end synthetic drugs, rejects his own existence, and lives in a forever nightmare of sorrow and self-annihilation. In a futuristic noir of rebirth and redemption, Müeller is tasked with a secretive murder investigation connected to the development of the chimeras. Drowning under his own fractured sense of self, with time running out and pressure crushing him from all sides, he must evade tyranny, reckon with the sins of his past, and confront the looming doom of an alien invasion from the sinister unknown.
