Money makes the world go round - corruption The book presents the state of the art in studying the causes of corruption from a comparative perspective. Leading scholars in the field of corruption analysis shed light on the issue of corruption from different theoretical perspectives. Understanding how different theories define, conceptualize, and eventually deduce policy recommendations will amplify our understanding of the complexity of this social phenomenon and illustrate the spectrum of possibilities to deal with it analytically as well as practically.

Rezensionen
Portal für Politikwissenschaft pw-portal.de, 05.07.2012 The Good Cause focuses on a range of social scientific approaches to the study of corruption, written by academics prominent in these forms of investigation.[...] this will doubtlessly have an enormous utility to future researchers in the field. Public Administration 2/2012 The Good Cause [...] is then a much welcome attempt to bring together a variety of theoretical perspectives to investigate the competing definitions of corruption and develop theoretical frameworks with which to inform future research. The theory of corruption is likened to a maze and the book takes the reader, via various theoretical routes, through the entrances and exits, as well as the inevitable blind alleys and dead ends, to the study of corruption. Public Management Review 7/2011 The whole world of corruption has been transformed over the past few decades. It is far more complex and complicated to fathom than ever before. An understanding of the causes of modern corruption has to reflect these developments. The book identifies eight major approaches to these questions. Public Integrity Fall 2011 This volume offers a comparative survey of competing theories of causes of corruption from different schools of thought and analysis and different disciplines.
