"The Good Intentions of a Criminal Psychopath" chronicles the transformation of a previously incarcerated pimp/addict/robber into a law-abiding member of the Los Angeles community. After fifteen years of incarcerations in various state and federal prisons, at the age of 32 George "Tony" Newland became a full-time university researcher, book author, college student, sports car owner and enthusiast, good neighbor, tennis player, dog lover, and real estate investor. His dramatic reformation lasted five years, until he relapsed back into serious criminality. At the age of 42 he was found hanged in a California prison cell. In an effort to understand what happened, and how his chances in the community might have been improved, this book describes his psychopathic personality and behavior, his successes in the community, and his failure to sustain a law-abiding lifestyle.
