Also, the data from the current study supported the notion that the Goth subculture is a separate and distinct adolescent crowd with its own set of defining psychological characteristics. The Goth subculture s relative uniqueness among adolescent crowds is consistent with modern theory about adolescent peer groups and adolescent identity development. Finally, the results suggest that, despite their unconventional appearance, ideas, and interests, counselors do not need to be on high alert when faced with a client who appears to be a Goth affiliate.
