The second book in 'The Green Dragon' series. Environmental stories for children set in Hong Kong. In 'The Green Dragon and the Oh No Bird' join Willy on his next adventure with his local friends, but this time venturing into the beautiful country parks. A story featuring Aiya, the Asian Koel, Wendy, the beautiful Wagtail, and Herbert, the star of the show, the ballet-dancing Wild Boar! After tackling the problem of marine pollution in 'The Green Dragon', Willy and some new friends raise awareness of human habits that must change to protect the country parks. Highlighting the issue of picnic litter in the country parks and the effects of human carelessness on the environment, the story introduces the 'Green Picnic Guide'. A simple guide with helpful tips to make your time out in nature as eco-friendly as possible! With a 'creature feature' hidden among the beautiful illustrations, how many creatures can you spot? As with the first book in the series 'The Green Dragon' you will find an educational page at the back of the book, referencing the Draco Viridi Ltd website for further information on the topic. With beautiful illustrations of scenes and animals from Hong Kong, this book is used in primary schools to help with environmental units of enquiry. Although set in Hong Kong, the story is valid anywhere in the world, unfortunately. If you have a love of Hong Kong or travel you will surely enjoy the references to this beautiful land.
Autorenporträt
Suzanne is a British citizen who moved to Hong Kong in 2015. In late 2017 a series of typhoons devastated the region. After joining a beach clean-up, her eyes and heart were opened to the immense problem of plastic pollution in the ocean. Propelled by a love of nature and being a keen dragon boater, Suzanne founded a volunteer organisation. She turned to her new sporting community to raise awareness of the volume of single-use plastic used in the sport. With great success and plenty of frustrations along the way, her journey then took her a step further to write children's books raising awareness to youngsters, about the issues that face not only Hong Kong but the planet. Her books take Suzanne to schools within Hong Kong, reading her stories and discussing with children how we can change human habits for the sake of our planet. The book series is a work of passion, a true calling.
