Born in Thrace (modern-day Bulgaria), Chavdar Chushev is a story teller and a leading expert in the field of gemstone engraving. With a vast knowledge of both modern and ancient gem carving processes, he has lectured on the subject and conducted demonstrations in museums and universities, including the Getty museum in Malibu, California. His engraved gems are collected by connoisseurs worldwide. A lifelong enthusiast of classical studies and a gradutate of the Indiana University School of Journalism, N.F. Houck is a writer and editor who has produced text for over a hundred publications, covering such diverse topics as Greek mythology, parliamentary procedure, computer operating systems, and gardening.
