Robert Burnett is Professor and Research Chair of Media and Communication Studies at Karlstad University, Sweden. He is the author of Concentration and Diversity in the International Phonogram Industry (Gothenburg 1990), The Global Jukebox: The International Music Industry (Routledge 1996), Web Theory: an Introduction (Routledge 2003), and co-editor of Perspectives on Multimedia: Communication, Media and Information Technology (Wiley 2004). He has been a visiting professor in Australia, Canada, Italy, Norway, Scotland, U.S.A. and Zimbabwe Mia Consalvo is an Associate Professor in the School of Telecommunications at Ohio University. She is the author of Cheating: Gaining Advantage in Videogames (MIT Press, forthcoming), and was executive editor of the Association of Internet Researchers' Research Annual series. She has also edited the volume Women and Everyday Uses of the Internet: Agency and Identity with Susanna Paasonen. Her research focuses on cheating and games, and the hybrid character of the global games industry. Charles Ess is Distinguished Research Professor, Interdisciplinary Studies, and Professor of Philosophy and Religion, Drury University, Springfield, Missouri, USA. He has published extensively, both as an author and as an editor, in various domains of research on computer-mediated communication, including cultural dimensions (Culture, Technology, Communication: Towards an Intercultural Global Village (SUNY Press, 2001) and several special issues of the Journal of Computer-Mediated Communication), religious dimensions, and ethical dimensions. Currently Vice-President of the Association of Internet Researchers, he will become President in October, 2007, with primary responsibilities for organizing the AoIR annual conferences in 2007 and 2008. He has served as a guest professor at IT-University (Copenhagen, Denmark) and the University of Trier (Germany): he will further serve as a guest professor at the University of Nîmes (France) and Aarhus University (Denmark) in 2007.
