Autorenporträt
I was born in the Dominican Republic in 1975, the second son of a family of four. I have two sisters, Juanin and Yobanka, and a brother, Herbert. I have a close relationship with my brother and sisters. We communicate weekly, sometimes daily. My mother's name is Maria. My father Fabian died five years ago. I have four children. I spent eighteen years in the Dominican Republic where I had some good and bad experiences. Many of the good experiences came from my community. I was raised in a neighborhood where we were all close to each other. My friends from the neighborhood are still my friends to this day. My background includes more than a decade in the U.S Marines where I ascended from an enlisted position to the officer ranks, I was trained in the area of combat engineering. My main responsibility was to command more than 200 marines. My principal mission during this time was the construction of defensive perimeters around a military base larger than a football field in Fallujah, Iraq. Also, I learned the importance and meaning of a successful mission is to have zero lives lost and no injuries.
