Written to appeal to readers in fifth through eighth grades, The Haunting has it all: ghosts, a pair of nasty villains, secret passages, supernatural effects, and orphans led to victory by a kid named Chance. The almost thirteen-year-old Chance discovers he can communicate with the ghost of Miss May, the orphanage director, who unexpectedly leaves the mortal world as the story begins. The ghost of Miss May enlists Chance to help save the orphanage from the villainous Whipley Twins. The twins are up to no good; they intend to use the orphans as slave laborers in their bakery and laundry businesses. Autorenporträt
I find joy and fulfillment in the creative processes of writing, music, and art. I developed a passion for words early in life, spending spare moments with my nose in a book. A recent discovery in a dusty box, filled by the diligent hands of my mother with our childhood school work, uncovered poems and short stories in my careful print. In college I studied Theater Arts and English literature, eventually following a teaching career. Though the teacher's life is busy I continued to write and journal, and over summer vacations I penned my first juvenile fiction, The Haunting. It was followed by a second juvenile fiction, Snake Food. Sisters of the Soul is my first adult novel. To find out more about other works, visit my website: https://www.kristinfulton.com
