The general objective of this survey is to determine the health needs of people aged 65 years and over in the commune of Bologhine, their use of health care services and to propose an adapted program of care.This single-pass household survey at the level of the commune of Bologhine (Algiers) concerns 690 people aged 65 years and over, during the period from 04 April to 20 May 2012. The results are that only 6.2% of the subjects surveyed consume 5 or more servings per day of fruits and vegetables during a typical week, the prevalence of overall sedentary lifestyle is 16.4%, the consumption of tobacco with declared smoke is 5.9% with a male predominance (14% vs. 0.2%), the prevalence of overweight is 37.1% and obesity is 30.6%. The management of polypathological elderly is complex, requiring a coherent policy, adapted strategies and activities for a global management of these patients, within the health system.
