Historical Civilizations: Herbal medicine has its roots in ancient civilizations, when knowledge of therapeutic plants was transmitted from generation to generation. Herbal medicines, for instance, were recorded on papyrus scrolls dating back as 1550 BCE in ancient Egypt.
