The tribe's life is simple until the messengers appear. They tell of a new people-a slender type of man with ridgeless foreheads coming from sunward lands. Could they be the fabled High Ones, prophesied destroyers of the world? Come with us, the messengers say, to unearth the secret that might avert the cataclysm. But what do the messengers really want? To reignite bygone conflicts? To steal the tribe's resources and lands? Or are the High Ones more than legend-a true threat that warrants forsaking their homes and venturing into the great white wastes of the north? The High Ones is a 45,000-year journey into a forgotten world unrecognizable from our own. A land where icebound desolation endures without end. A land where surviving might be the cruelest fate of all. It is a land where the High Ones pursue with lethal intent in a crushing wave like the world has never seen.
