They even, finally, designed a new world order to promote lasting peace. The Historians emerge from that world to join us in our world, where they mingle with us undercover. A blunder by one of these Historians triggers a potentially disastrous alternate history. To repair this "anomaly" and return the time continuum and recorded history to its original state, 28th century world leaders gather an emergency team they dispatch to Washington, D.C., AD 2021, to stop a disturbed individual from murdering an adolescent who is supposed to grow up to be a highly consequential historical figure.
