This book considers the development of the Finance, Tourism and Agricultural industries, as the main sectors of business activity, in Jersey in the twentieth century. The development of the Finance industry from the arrival of the first merchant bank in the 1960s to its present day standing providing a significant contribution to GNP is considered. This is set against the perceived decline in Agriculture due to too much concentration on certain produce and competition from other areas. Also, the continued importance of the Tourism industry is considered in relation to the other two main industries. The aims of the book are to determine the factors involved in the modern development of the main industries. The book contains illustrations by Elizabeth Clark.
