Sabatini and his wife Ruth got divorced in 1931. Sabatini's fiction, which is typically set in the past, tackles political intrigue, religion, and the role of chivalry and honor while amusing readers with witty dialogue. This is understandable given that two of his most well-known writings were adapted into swashbuckling great movies.
