Autorenporträt
Geboren am 27.02.1802 in Besançon, gestorben am 23.05.1885 in Paris.Hugo war der Sohn eines napoleonischen Generals. Die Karriere seines Vaters endete mit dem Sturz Napoleons. Nach Abschluß des Gymnasiums fand Victor Hugo schnell Aufnahme in französische Literatenkreise. 1822 heiratete er Adèle Foucher. Hugo gründete 1824 die Zeitschrift "La Muse française". Er engagierte sich politisch und wurde 1848 Abgeordneter der Pariser Kammer. Aus politischen Gründen emigrierte er von 1855-1870 nach Belgien und auf die Kanalinseln.
