The text is the result of a doctoral research, carried out during four years, whose purpose was the improvement of the teaching-learning process of Cuban History in the fifth and sixth grade of Primary Education. It is structured in two chapters, the first one, which deals with the theoretical foundations of the childhood history content, and the second one, which argues the didactic conception, the methodology for its treatment and also has some examples of activities for teachers to better understand how to implement this new historical content. Its essential purpose is for teachers to ensure, through Cuban history classes, that primary schoolchildren integrate their experiences with the personal, family and community history of the members of their family, community and the historical personalities they study, which favours the formation of their historical thinking, their understanding of the personal and social usefulness of the content they learn, their ability to act in the social context in which they live, as well as the integral formation of their personality.
