Diabetes mellitus is a disease characterised by an excess of sugar in the blood, due to the ineffective action of the hormone insulin whose function is to lower blood glucose. Because of this, patients with the disease have to take a blood glucose test to find out exactly how much sugar is in their blood, which should not be higher than 126 mg/dL on an empty stomach. Therefore, the work deals with the history of diabetes mellitus and its possible remission, aiming to demonstrate through data available in books and scientific works of great impact and worldwide recognition, in which it addresses the entire beginning of the disease from discovery to reversal.
