The history of higher and university education in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is rich and complex, marked by political, social and economic developments. The creation of universities in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) was motivated by a number of important social, economic and political factors. Higher education was introduced by the Belgian colonizers of (1885-1960), mainly through missionary institutions. The Congolese trained in these institutions were often destined to occupy administrative positions.
