A series of six humorous short stories for confident early readers set all through the seasons, in and around an old farmhouse. A Hob lives under the hearthstone, unknown and unseen by everyone except Miss Minkin, the tabby cat. At night, while the family sleeps, he emerges to share a bowl of cream with her. They tell stories of the olden days, dance and sing - and have adventures. Innocent and magical, they triumph over troublesome mice, a birds' nest in the chimney, smugglers' loot, 'spooks', a silent newborn foal, and some very strange Christmas presents when they try carol singing. The stories often refer to places and events in the history of the Sussex Weald, where the author grew up.
Autorenporträt
I'm a children's author and publisher. I grew up in Crowborough, high up on the Sussex Weald, but I've lived in Southampton with my husband Niall for over 40 years, and our three children were all born and raised here in the city. I've been writing for children since 1995, when my first picture book, Tattybogle, illustrated by Ken Brown, was published (Andersen Press). In 2007 'Tattybogle the Musical' was created by Ruth Kenward of Starshine Music and performed at the Farnham Festival. I have had a wonderful, busy time since then! The musical has also led to invitations to visit many schools all over the UK and in South Korea and to work with the children - great fun and most rewarding. The success of 'Tattybogle the Musical' has led on to further fruitful collaborations with Ruth; 'Babushka the Musical' (book published by Barefoot books) for Christmas 2008 has enjoyed success not only here but in several other countries too. 'The Moonthieves' musical was commissioned for the 2009 Farnham Festival and has also gone world-wide. website - www.tattybogle.co.uk Facebook - www.facebook.com/Sandrahornbooks
