An award-winning investigative journalist, Petra Reski writes regularly for publications like GEO, DIE ZEIT, Merian and Brigitte, as well as for radio. She is the author of several books on the Mafia. Born in Kamen, Germany, she has lived in Italy since 1989.

Petra Reski liefert Fakten zur Mafia
Die Bombe explodierte am 23. Mai 1992, um 17.56 und 48 Sekunden, in einem Abflussrohr unter der Autobahn vor Capaci. Der Richter Giovanni Falcone, der gegen die Mafia ermittelte, seine Frau und drei Leibwächter wurden getötet. Die Bombe war 572 Kilo schwer, von Seismografen wurde die Explosion als ein kleines Erdbeben registriert. 57 Tage später, am 19. Juli 1992, wurde Falcones Mitstreiter Paolo Borsellino in die Luft gejagt, vor dem Haus seiner Mutter in Palermo, mit seinen fünf Leibwächtern.
Die beiden brutalen Aktionen machten den Italienern die Macht der Mafia bewusst, ihre enge Kollaboration mit der Politikern, das Gemenge von Korruption, Geldwäsche, Drogenhandel, Stimmenverkauf.
