The challenge that Holmes and Watson face in the moors of Baskerville is quite different from any of their other cases: a mystery that straddles the line between this world and the possibility of the supernatural. There's an old legend of the Baskervilles that they're tainted by a centuries-old curse; a spectral hell hound will bring about the early demise of the members of the family if they choose to venture out upon the moors at night. The book is rather enjoyable, creepy, and balanced out with humour too. Sherlock Holmes is at his inscrutable and logical best; Dr. Watson is his devoted self and a helpful companion; and the mystery is a solid one, with a gothic feel to it.
