His graduate studies were in Europe, where he earned a doctorate in philosophy at the University of Freiburg (Switzerland) and a doctorate in Sacred Scripture at the Pontifical Biblical Institute, Rome. Presently he lives in Dayton with his wife, Arlene, and their three sons.
