The human body in art: reflections on being a teacher/artist is a research project that began during my undergraduate degree in Visual Arts. These writings use my artistic process as an investigative method to think about the initial training of academics and basic education. I present the body in art and teacher training, providing an understanding of the body of the artist presented and the human body represented in art, raising questions about how the subject has been perceived by art teachers in training. The research is exploratory in nature, combining observation tools and semi-structured interviews to gain a deeper insight into the reality of the 'teacher/artist' students in training. In these writings, I also report on my personal experience and the whole process of my own body as a research method, with the intention of contributing to the training of other individuals. At the end of this work, I realise that my entire career at university has contributed to me becoming a teacher/artist in training.
