Seminar paper from the year 2023 in the subject Leadership and Human Resources - Leadership, grade: 1,0, Furtwangen University; Villingen-Schwenningen, language: English, abstract: This research paper will examine the significance of emotional intelligence for leadership effectiveness on the basis of relevant scientific literature. In a dynamic and complex business world, the demands on leaders are increasing massively. Various studies and models therefore establish the connection between efficient leadership and above-average emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence, as defined by Goleman (2004), encompasses five key abilities: self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills. These qualities lead to better emotional control and, as a result, to better decisions and better performance. Individual emotional intelligence can be improved through various methods such as mindfulness training. This synthesis of relevant sources and literature concludes that fostering and developing emotional intelligence is essential for modern organizations and leaders and makes a significant difference in the quality of output.
