The aim of this book is to investigate the impact of immigration on Native wages in Ireland. Utilizing an unbalanced panel data from the European Union Survey of Income and Living Conditions (EU-SILC) for the period 2013 - 2017, this study analysed the wage effect of immigrants using an Ordinary Least Square Regression with fixed effect model and Skill-Cell Approach Technique by Borjas (2003). Under the Skill-Cell Approach Technique, the individuals are divided into a number of skill cells, whereby the cells are classified by groups with similar levels of education and experience as well as experience and occupation. The Ordinary Least Square Regression with the fixed effect is then employed to evaluate whether the average wages of natives across each skill cells are influenced by the share of immigrants across the cells. The estimated results identified that there is a statistically insignificant negative effect of immigration on native wages in Ireland when the skill cells are based on education/ experience. It was also observed that when skill cells are based on occupation-experience, there is a positive relationship yet slightly insignificant effect of immigration on the wages.
