In China, nurse managers need apply the leadership skills necessary for empowering nurses to practise to the full scope of their professional role; these skills include effective communication, clear expectations and feedback, participation in decision-making, professional development opportunities,and recognition for the quality of care. It is evident from this research that higher levels of empowerment are associated with greater job satisfaction, and these findings have important significance for Chinese nursing profession.
