This book shows different mechanisms that can implement the principle of gender equality in the labour market. Chapters 1 to 4 are mainly concerned with the EU and the UK, including ex post legal protection; positive action as public procurement and gender quotas; family-friendly legislation that may promote women to be more active in the labour market; a few digitalised approaches. From a Sino-European perspective, Chapter 5 critically discusses whether some European experiences could be useful and adequate for China. This chapter contains three primary sections: judicial remedies for gender discrimination, the possibility of "buying gender equality", and work-life balance in the context of "three-child policy".
