The aim of this study was to verify the importance of physical activity in the treatment and prevention of obesity. This study is of great importance as it reviews the entire process of obesity development and the importance of physical activity as a factor in the prevention and treatment of this disease, which is currently causing great concern to health authorities. From the results obtained in this study, it was concluded that: 1. there is a significant negative correlation of adiposity indicators (DCTR and SigmaDCTR+SB) with the amount of movement produced by the body (VM) and with energy expenditure relative to body mass (GER); 2. the greater the accumulation of adipose tissue, the greater the prevalence of sedentary physical behaviour and the lower the energy expenditure; 3. the lower adiposity index is inversely proportional to the level of light to vigorous physical activity and GER.
