The study examines the influence newspaper content has on the readership of newspapers in Lagos, Nigeria. The Study adopts the survey research method. Findings show that newspaper readers prefer to read news, feature and sports in that order. Though it was assumed that The Sun newspaper carry mostly human interest story and soft news, but majority of newspapers readers will always prefer to read news stories whether it is reported in soft style or straight news approach. The study therefore recommends that newspapers carry mostly news, followed by features and sports stories.

Mr Sunday Ogbonna holds a B.Sc and M.Sc degrees in Mass Communication from the Enugu State University of Science and Technology,(ESUT) and the Lagos State University School of Communication Studies (LASU) Lagos respectively. Mr. Oladipupo Alaka also hold an M.Sc degree from the same institution, and lectures at Lagos State University, Ojo, Lagos.
