The content of the paper is aimed at determining the effectiveness of an experimental program based on the connection of mathematical and musical contents in order to successfully master the subjects within both subjects in the lower grades of elementary school. In modern teaching, there is a tendency of linking the content of different subjects in order to make the knowledge of students more permanent and the teaching more effective. We will look at the places where mathematics as a science and music as art through the historical aspect met. We will also point out content in mathematics in which it is possible to implement content from music culture and vice versa, in order to improve the cognitive development of children of lower school age. The aim of the research is to experimentally examine and study the effects of a teaching approach in which mathematics and music are linked. We will also show places where students have shown poor knowledge and application of the same.

Jelena (Mladen) Savic was born on October 15, 1992. in Belgrade, Serbia. At the Faculty of Teacher Education, University of Belgrade, she completed her basic (2015) and master's (2016) degrees. She is currently on PhD studies. She presented about the connection of mathematics and music at the conference and published work in a scientific journal.
