To address the low representation of women from the North in the social, political and economic sphere and in the media, the Regional Information Office of the United Nations Operation in Côte d'Ivoire (UNOCI) based in Korhogo (580 km in the north of Côte d'Ivoire) initiated a project to create radio programs with women's associations to better speak to women in the North and involve them in the ongoing peace and reconstruction process. Our hypothesis was that the creation of radio programs specifically for women in the North who are under-represented in the media can contribute to highlighting their leadership and media recognition in order to facilitate their social, political and economic recognition. Led by the regional office of public information, this project lasted 16 months, from March 2014 to June 2015, and involved nine (9) women's associations from the northern regions of Côte d'Ivoire for the realization of three series of programs and three (3) non-commercial private radio stations for their promotion and broadcast.
